This meeting will introduce attendees to the basics of virtual or cryptocurrency. We’ll discuss what virtual currency is and is not, why it’s a “thing,” and essential cryptoverse vocabulary. In addition, we will review some of the basics: how to get start in crypto investing, the risks and rewards, and what’s involved in cryptocurrency taxation.
About our Speaker:
Amy Wall, MBA, EA, Tucson Tax Team, NATP
Amy Wall has a degree in chemistry, a second major in economics, and an MBA. She has a private tax practice in Tucson, Arizona, preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses. She also teaches tax classes for the National Association of Tax Professionals. Amy has been interested in virtual currency taxation since the first IRS virtual currency regulations came out in 2014. Today, she prepares tax returns for virtual currency investors around the country and teaches virtual currency taxation classes. She has been published in the Wolters Kluwer Journal of Tax Practice & Procedure and the National Association of Tax Professional Journal. Her secret dream is to be asked by the IRS to help simplify the tax code. (She’s clear that it’s just a dream!)
