Session Description:
What is sustainability? How is it defined? How does it impact businesses (or how do businesses impact the environment!)? How are local firms managing sustainability initiatives? These questions and more will be handled by professors from the Sustainability Institute for Regional Transformations (SIRT) of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. SIRT engages stakeholders from Wisconsin and beyond to build healthy communities, inclusive economies, and ecologically sound environments through inquiry, education, and action.

Dr. Stephanie Spehar, Associate Professor, Anthropology, UW Oshkosh

  • Physical anthropologist
  • Specializes in primate socioecology (how ecology and the environment have shaped primate social systems and behavior)
  • Research focus on primate mating systems, group dynamics and social behavior, and communication
  • Secondary research interest in primate conservation, especially the effect of habitat alteration, fragmentation, and hunting on primate communities
