Session Description:
Matthew Thomson of Core BTS will be presenting on Ransomware and Cyber Criminals. Organizations everywhere are finding themselves faced with the threat of having their data held hostage by cyber criminals via malware known as ransomware. Matthew will talk about this current trend, how the cyber criminals operate their ransomware “missions”, and what you and your organization can do to prevent or limit the impacts of ransomware.

Matthew Thomson, Cybersecurity Leader and Professional, Core BTS

Matthew Thomson is a Principal Architect with Core BTS focused on cybersecurity. He has more than 13 years of experience in cybersecurity operations spanning his time as an officer in the US Air Force followed by cybersecurity leadership roles in transportation/logistics and financial services organizations. Matthew’s approach to cybersecurity in organizations is to partner with business line leadership to leverage enterprise-level technologies and technical knowledge to build solutions that streamline business processes while maintaining the protection of critical systems and information. Matthew is married and has four children (ages 8, 6, 5, and 3). In his off time, he enjoys spending time camping, coaching flag football, golfing, and overengineering his home network.
